Parents Scratch Coding Lessons – Stratton

Tuesday 23 01 2018 @ 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM

Parents – Learn about SCRATCH Coding and make a Pacman game. Make and code games, robots, traffic lights, a burglar alarm and take the ‘Chocolate biscuit challenge.’ As a result of changes in the curriculum recently coding is being taught in all schools and Cornwall Council are supporting parents in learning basic programming skills.

What is it? Scratch is a free computer programme that let you make computer games and apps.
Why do I need to know? The idea is that if our children are able to do some basic computer programming and be digitally literate. It will equip them for the future and may well lead to fantastic career opportunities for them. On the 8 week course, you will learn the basics of using Scratch and make a simple computer game such as Pacman. We will also be looking into Raspberry Pi’s, Crumble, Aruduino and Python. Bring your own laptop if you wish. (Try to download Scratch offline v2 first, its free.)
Where? Adult Education, Stratton, Nr Bude.
When? Tuesday 23rd January at 9:30-11:30 am for 8 sessions.
Cost? Free

Sign up by contacting Ian to get on the list. Not sure if this course is for you?  Call Ian the Family Learning tutor on 078111 79401 to discuss or drop in on Tuesday 16th January from 9.30.
