Crowdfunder is about making great ideas a reality
We are the UK’s largest rewards-based crowdfunding platform and we are expanding our team of Crowdfunding heroes. We’ve funded millions of pounds across the UK for thousands of projects and now we are looking for people to join our crowd.
Since inception in 2012, Crowdfunder has become the UK’s #1 rewards-based crowdfunding platform, with an online community of over 350,000. We have raised over £10 million for thousands of businesses, social enterprises, charities and individuals – we believe we have unlocked millions more through match funding and support.
We rank #1 on Google, have grown by a factor of ten in two years, have increased our market share and have closed more than twice as many projects in the last ten months than our UK competitors combined. We currently have what we believe is an industry leading success rate, with 42% achieving funding.
We have refined our technology to the point where 90% of projects now fund without help from our team of crowdfunding coaches. We have developed Crowdfunder Now, an online app developed in partnership with Paypal, which will soon allow project owners to manage their campaigns on the go and instantly promote them to their network. We have built an network of more than 40 affiliates and have over 100 white label versions of the platform running across the UK.
Our ambition is to become the UK’s most effective social investment platform, delivering more social and economic impacts that any other platform.
How does it work?
Currently in the UK it can be hard to find funding for a great business, social enterprise, charity or individual project and engage with the community around you. Banks are cautious about lending, grants are hard to secure, and without proof your idea is a good one, it’s a challenge to get the money you need to develop and grow.
Over the last three years Crowdfunder has enabled thousands of people with a great idea to raise the money they need from the crowd – but much more importantly Crowdfunder validates ideas and connects them to the funding, products and services they need.
Using our rewards-based platform people have been able to back an idea with pledges of money and project owners can ‘thank’ their backers with rewards which reflect the money contributed. The reward can be a product, service or experience that is produced by the project. The crowdfunding process helps to validate ideas, teaches entrepreneurial behaviours and unlocks further match funds.
Crowdfunder connects people, projects and partners.
Funding Bodies – we ran an initial iShorts campaign as a pilot with Creative England to distribute £100,000+ as match fund to up and coming film makers as part of their ishorts campaign. This money was matched by the crowd, amplifying the funds to £130k+.
Brands – JCDecaux, one of the world’s biggest outdoor ad agencies, is offering media matchfunding to the SMEs and start ups – supported by a nationwide outdoor campaign for projects. Crowdfunder also powers energyshare’s inward investment technology helping it to become one of the UK’s most effective way to raise funds for community energy projects.
Universities – we’re running crowdfunding campaigns and have built dedicated crowdfunding platforms for Universities like Surrey and Plymouth to help university students, academics and alumni raise the funds they need for projects.
Councils – We’ve developed campaigns with Councils like Angus and Plymouth City Council – which is successfully distributing its Community Infrastructure Levy as match funding as part of the Crowdfund Plymouth Campaign. So far just under ten times more money has been raised for projects in the City, then the initial match fund distribution – representing a significant amplification of public funds.
Recently Crowdfunder has added community shares to the platform, so that people can buy community shares in an asset they care about – be it a pub, newspaper or pier – for the social return of protecting the asset for the community.
Positive News, our first community share offer, successfully raised over £263,000. We have £15 million of projects in our pipeline which is rapidly expanding.
